Why This Site Exists

I want a place to collect, organize, and share my thoughts and learning. Not because I think that I am right or an oracle of knowledge, but in the hope that - through sharing - a few things may happen:

1. Thoughts and learning that are useful and valuable to me may be useful and valuable to others.
2. Others will challenge my thinking.
3. Others will challenge their own thinking.

Ideas and understanding improve when challenged. Bad ideas are revealed to be bad. Good ideas withstand scrutiny and are refined in the process. Okay ideas are developed and may be transformed into good ideas. Improvement begins with communication (sharing), thoughtful consideration, and respectful challenging and disagreement. This is why this site exists.

What You'll Find

Thoughts, stories, and shared learning on a variety of topics from all aspects of my life. I am a religious person, a husband and father, and a technologist. I could have created separate sites to share thoughts on different aspects of my life; but that is a lot to maintain, and I am one person and not some compartmentalized automaton in each of these disciplines. Learnings from each area of my life influence and benefit all other areas of my life. Therefore, one person, one site, all my shared learnings in one place.

That said, there is value in helping people find what they seek. If you are here for shared technical learnings, you may not want to read about my religious or societal musings. I will, therefore, categorize the content and do my best through the site's navigation mechanisms to help you find what you want without causing you to wade through content you don't.

A Note on Controversial Topics

We don't help one another by shying away from controversial subjects and hiding away in polarizing echo chambers. I feel like we need more honest, candid, and respectful discussion with people we don't agree with. I won't hide my thoughts because someone may be offended by them. I will share my thoughts and receive (and welcome) feedback on them - this is how I improve my thinking and understanding.

If you don't want your thinking challenged or may be offended by thoughts that disagree with your own, then I recommend avoiding any controversial topics on my site. My intent is to share, elevate, and encourage critical thinking of my own ideas and yours. My intent is not to offend.
